Tanya, 'Eighty Years of the Admor Shlita', the Edition of which the Rebbe Himself Distributed Copies - the 13th of ...

Sefer Likutei Amarim Tanya by the Admor Hazaken Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, a special edition with a bibliographic chapter containing facsimiles and photocopies of previous editions of the Tanya, published in honor of the 80th birthday of the Rebbe of Chabad Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, 11th of Tamuz 1982. This copy was not given directly by the Rebbe but was one of the copies that remained after the distribution of the books [see below] and the Rebbe instructed to sell them at a low price to the general public. He also instructed to change the date of the 11th of Nissan which appeared on the title page. Indeed another date was stamped on the title page: "13th of Nissan". Two bookmarks.Blemishes and taping to spine. Good condition.

About this edition: On the 11th of Nissan 1982, before the end of the Hitva'adut, the Rebbe announced (Hitva'aduyot 1982, volume III, p.1245) the distribution of the Tanya books (copies of a special edition containing title pages of varied editions of Tanya books) and a dollar bill - for each and every participant of the Hitva'adut - in gratitude for their participation, After the Hitva'adut, the Chalukah began, continuing until the early morning hours of the following day. After the Chaluka, the Rebbe was asked what should be done with the remaining copies (approx. 3000). He instructed that they be sold at a low price to the general public, asking to change the date appearing on the title page of the 11th of Nissan. The date was indeed changed by a stamp to the 13th of Nissan.
