All items of this auction that were given directly by the Rebbe were thoroughly checked by the auction house to determine who received them from the Rebbe. For most of them, we received additional evidence such as a photograph taken when the item was received and varied authenticity tests.
The recipients' names were obscured in most of the items, at the request of their owners, and will be revealed to the buyers. Be advised, further questions about the items should be directed to the auction house until 24 hours before the auction. Entering a bid is binding with all that that entails. Thank you.

Description:
Complete Set of Sdei Chemed Printed by the Instruction of the Rebbe Rayatz, who Passed Away as the Last Volume was being Printed - Published by the Rebbe, Kehat New York 1949-1953.
Complete set, ten volumes containing the famous work Sdei Chemed by the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Chezekaya Medini of Hebron, which is an encyclopedia-like work for Klalei HaShas, alphabetically ordered. Including the indices and appendices.
Printed by the personal request of the Rayatz. Published by Kehat New York between 1949-1953. Each volume has, on verso of the title page, a foreword by the publisher, who is no other than the Rebbe himself in his father-in-law’s lifetime(see below).
The last volume refers to his late father-in-law, with the title זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע. On the facing page is the notation: "באמצע הכנת כרך זה לדפוס נסתלק כבוד קדושת מו"ח... יוסף יצחק... אדמו"ר מליובאוויטש גאון ישראל ונשיאו" (In the middle of the preparation of this volume his Holiness passed away… Yosef Yitzhak…the Admor of Lubavitch Gaon Yisrael).
Additional title page for the indices. Fine printed bindings. Traces of taping on the bindings. Some of the bindings are partly detached - one of them without a spine and another with a blemished spine. Other minor blemishes. Mostly good condition.
In the foreword, the Rebbe explains the necessity and benefit of printing these books, although they are not by Rabboteinu Nesi'einu, stating that the books are out of print yet are necessary for anyone studying rabbinic literature, especially Morei Hora'ah:
"על פי הוראת כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א, ניגשנו להו"ל מחדש, בהוצאת מתוקנת, את שורת הספרים "שדי חמד", אשר זה שנים רבות אזלו מן השוק ואינם בנמצא. גודל תועלת ספרים אלו ונחיצותם ידוע לכל עוסק בספרות הרבנות, ובפרט למורי הוראה לאמיתתה על פי תורתן של גדולי ישראל בדורות שעברו. וגדלה עוד הנחיצות בימינו אלו, אשר, מצד אחד, נשרפו ונאבדו רבבות טופסים של ספרי הלכה והוראה, ומצד שני, הרי הלימוד לשם בירור פסק הדין, הלכה למעשה ובטעמו ונימוקו, הולך ומתמעט ומתצמצם".
These days, the Rebbe's words are all the more relevant since there are even fewer copies of this edition.
