Handwritten Signatures of Rabbi Shmuel Salant: Sefer Meorei Esh by the Maharam Esh - First Edition Furth, 1766

Sefer Meorei Esh on the Torah and Megillot by the Gaon Rabbi Meir Eisenstadt - the Maharam Esh, author of Panim Meirot. Printed with the work Or Chadash by his grandson Rabbi Elazar Kallir Av Beit Din of Kolin. First edition, Furth 1766. [4], 90 leaves. Many approbations by leading contemporary Ashkenazic rabbis.

New binding. The title page and first gathering are restored, mainly their edges. Moth perforations and damage, mainly to the first leaves. Stains. On the last leaves, dark stains. The leaves with the approbations are bound in reverse order. Good overall condition.

On the lower part of the title page, the full handwritten signature of the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel of Salant: "שמואל מסלאנט", the revered Rav of Jerusalem for approx. seventy years (see Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography).

It should be noted that full signatures handwritten by Rabbeinu are extremely rare.

In the center and top of the title page, two different stamps: "שמואל סלאנט". On the top of the title page, an ancient notation indicating the copy had been owned by his father: "...חריף ושנון פרוש מו"ה צבי הירש הלוי"  - Rabbi Zvi Hirsch who served as Rav of Valerisa and was one of the rabbis of his son Rabbi Shmuel Salant.
