Author's stamp on the upper part of the title page and a notation handwritten by him: "המחבר"
Rabbi Meir Auerbach (1815-1878) served as president of Kollel Polin and was one of the leaders of the Ashkenazic community of Jerusalem.
He stated that he immigrated to Jerusalem since he wanted "לפרוק מעלי עבודתי בצורכי ציבור וחשקה נפשי אך לחבק תורתינו הקדושה ולשבוע נפשי בצחצחות אורות התורה ותקעתי אוהלי בקדש לשבת בעיר אשר בחר ה' ללמוד וללמד... הקרבתי על מזבח ציון וירושלים כל מחמדי ... בחרתי לשבת גלמוד בארבע אמות של הלכה בקודש ".
