Kanfei Yonah the personal copy of the holy Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Weiss of Svalive, with important glosses handwritten by him.

Sefer Kanfei Yonah on Yoreh Deah by Rabbi Yonah Landsofer. Prague, 1812. First edition.

Rabbi Yonah landsofer was one of the greatest Acharonim and his famed book Shut Meir Tzeddakah is introduced in many Psikah books, serving as a foundation stone (for example, it is the source of the size of the Ketem in Hilchot Nidah).

The personal copy with the stamps of the holy Gaon Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Weiss of Svalive with many important scholarly glosses, including some sharply criticizing ones, on the sheets of the book as well as short glosses - all of them handwritten by him.

Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Weiss (1824-1894) one of the Geonim of Hungary, was born in Munkatch in 1824. Was a disciple of the Bnei Yisschar, Rabbi Yehuda Zvi of Rosla, the Sar Shalom of Belz and Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac of Ziditchov.

Was most knowledgeable of Kabbalah and edited the books of leading Chassidic rabbis, as indicated by his nephew and disciple the holy Rav the author of the Omrei Yosef of Spinka, who stated that he was the one who edited the writings of Rabbi Isaac of Zitichov.

The Maharshag wrote: ...וכן נהג הרב הגאון המקובל מוהרי"א ז"ל בעהמ"ח בית יצחק על מגילה וידעתי שהיה מקובל כמעט יחיד במדינה בחכמה זו [Shut Maharshag, section III Siman 30].

He was also famed as a Gaon in Nigleh and the holy Rav the Divrei Yoel of Satmar used to say that he adopted his method of learning by studying his book the Beit Yitzchak on tractate Megillah.

For twenty five years he served as Av Beit Din of Svalive and fifteen years as Rosh Av Beit Din of Munkatch until his passing in 1894, when he was seventy. He was eulogized by the Darkei Teshuvah.
