Bavli Talmud, Bomberg first edition. Tractate Zevachim - Venice, 1522.
Tractate Zevachim with Rashi's commentary and Tosfot of the famed first edition of the Talmud printed by the renowned printer Daniel Bomberg in Venice.
At the end of the tractate, Piskei Tosfot were printed for the first time.
Post incunabula, the famed first complete edition of the Shas printed at the printery of one of the leading printers, Daniel Bomberg, in Venice was his greatest work.
Fine, elegant edition with almost no censorship and with important additions, on which all following editions were based.
The Shas of Venice determined the format of the leaf of all following editions as well as the number of leaves of each tractate.
The Gaon author of Dikdukei Sofrom wrote that the format of this Talmud was beautiful, the paper fine and the letters black and clear. He also stated that all following editions cannot compare to this one.
2-121 leaves - the title page is missing.
Condition varies between the leaves of the copy. On the first twenty five, dark stains, some holes with lacks.
In two leaves, the lack was completed with blank paper.
The rest of the copy is complete with stains and some moth.
Fair-poor overall condition.
