Victoria, Princess Royal – Empress Frederick (1840–1901), Eldest Daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and Mother of Kaiser Wilhelm II – Three-Page Autograph Letter in German, Signed “Victoria” – Berlin - A rare ALS (Autograph Letter Signed) by Victoria, Princess Royal (1840–1901), eldest daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, wife of Emperor Frederick III and mother of Kaiser Wilhelm II. Born Victoria Adelaide Mary Louisa, she held the British title of Princess Royal and, through her marriage to Crown Prince Frederick William of Prussia, later became German Empress and Queen of Prussia. Following her husband's death in 1888 she became widely known as Empress Frederick – Kaiserin Friedrich. Written from Berlin, in German, on royal stationery bearing Victoria's large and distinctive crowned personal monogram. The letter is written on a folded double sheet, with the text extending over three full autograph pages. The contents are personal and familial rather than official, with references to members of the family and acquaintances, including a reference to “Mama” – Queen Victoria, the writer's mother. The letter concludes in an affectionate manner with Victoria's large and impressive autograph signature “Victoria.” Victoria, Princess Royal occupied a central position in the dynastic history of nineteenth-century Britain and Germany: the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria, wife of Emperor Frederick III and mother of Wilhelm II, German Emperor. An important royal autograph manuscript combining three full pages in the hand of Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, her crowned personal monogram, personal and family content, and a large, clearly executed “Victoria” signature.
