abstract depiction of a group of animals and a shepherd in a wide landscape with a mountain range on the horizon, chalks on paper, signed and illegibly inscribed "Hans Wagner" lower right, label on the reverse "Hans Wagner Wiesbaden, Titel Urherde, Technik Pastell, Größe 32 x 55, 1947 gemalt", paper slightly yellowed, framed behind glass, visible dimensions approx. 31 x 48.5 cm. Artist info: Germ. Painter, bookseller, craftsman and designer (1902 Wiesbaden - 1980 Mainz), son of the sculptor and stucco artist Ludwig Wagner, first student at the school of arts and crafts in Wiesbaden, further education at the former school of arts and crafts Burg Giebichenstein Halle, further education in painting with Paul Dahlen, undertook study trips through Europe and North Africa, afterwards until 1939 temporarily working as a bookseller as well as designer for hats and costume jewellery, from 1926 member of the Reichsverband bildender Künstler Deutschlands, 1939-67 employed as draughtsman at the Landesamt für Kulturgeschichte und Bodenaltertümer in Wiesbaden, 1945 co-founder of the Ring bildender Künstler, co-founder of the "Gruppe 50 Wiesbaden", whose exhibitions he attended, from 1952 regular stays in Wisper (Heidenrod) in the Taunus/Rheingau, active in Wiesbaden, source: Wikipedia.
