Two American Calico Pieced Quilts, 19th Century
Two American Calico Cotton Pieced Quilts, Second Half 19th Century. Comprising a 'Twenty-Five Patch' quilt and a pieced and appliqued 'Carolina Lily' counterpane quilt.
Dimensions: Dimensions of 'Twenty-Five Patch' approximately 86 x 62in; Dimensions of 'Carolina Lily' approximately 88 x 86in.
Condition:
Each with wear commensurate with age and use. The 'Carolina Lily' quilt with heavy wear, thinning to fabric, threadbare areas, stains, soling and discoloration throughout to the front and back. The 'Twenty-Five Patch' quilt is hand pieced with machine quilting over top, general wear and surface dirt. Minor scattered stains throughout.
