Set of 72 Photos - Holy Land - Frank Mason Good, 1860s
A set of 72 photographs of the Holy Land, featuring cities, villages, historical sites, people, and landscapes. Most of the photos are of Palestine and include views of Jerusalem, the Western Wall, Rachel’s Tomb, Mount Hermon, Mount Sinai, Bethlehem, Hebron, Nablus, Tiberias, Be’er Sheva, Dan, Megiddo, and the Judean Desert. Some of the photographs depict Greece, Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon, including the Pyramids, Baalbek, Damascus, Petra, and the Sinai Desert. Taken by British photographer Frank Mason Good, who is best known for his series of views of the Middle East taken on four separate tours of the area in the 1860s and 1870s. Initially worked as an assistant to Francis Frith. Apparently circa the 1860s. Each photograph is mounted on a thick page with a description at the bottom. Page dimensions are approximately 28x21 cm, with varying photo sizes. Condition varies; overall good condition with some stains on certain pages and signs of wear.
