Kyjov Synagogue Greetings - New Jewish Year Postcard
Shana Tova postcard with views of Gaya – Kyjov, Moravia, Czechoslovakia (former Austro-Hungarian empire), including the synagogue building. Titled in German, alongside wishes for the new year in Hebrew. Unknown publisher.
Kyjov was the only royal city in the area in which Jews were permitted to live, and its first synagogue was built in 1506. Most of the Jewish community of Kyjov was sent to Terezin (Theresienstadt) Ghetto, and perished in the holocaust. The Nazis destroyed the synagogue, and the Jewish cemeteries of the town.
Undivided postcard. Sent by the Austrian Post in 1908. Good condition, the synagogue building is marked in pencil, wear.
