Novella on tractate Brochos and Seder Moed authored by R. Yaakov Yehoshua Falk. The novella of the Pnei Yehoshua are classics of Talmudic discourse and are among the most frequently studied later commentaries. R. Yaakov Yehoshua Falk (1680-1756) was one of the greatest Achronim. He served as Rav in various important communities including Lemberg, Berlin, Metz and Frankfurt.
On the first title page, the Pnei Yehoshua expresses his wish to be able to emigrate to Eretz Yisroel. Many copies do not include this title page.
With various inscriptions stating that this sefer belongs to R. Shimon Babad Rav of Tarnapol. R. Shimon Babad (1839-1909) was a son of R. Yosef Babad (Minchas Chinuch). Known as an outstanding Talmid Chochom he succeeded his father as Rav of Taranpol. He was involved in the publication of the Minchas Chinuch and wrote the introduction as well as numerous glosses which were printed alongside the sefer.
