Terumas HaDeshen Venice 1546. Unidentified Rabbinical Signatures and Glosses! Does not include the Psakim U’Ksavim.
Classic sefer of Halachic responsa by R. Yisroel Isserlin. The title Trumas HaDeshen alludes to the number of questions contained in the work, 354 (the numerical equivalent for the Hebrew word ‘Deshen’). It is maintained that many of the halachic queries therein were posed by the author himself (See Shach Yoreh De’ah 196:20). In addition to his halachic novella the author mentions much historical information regarding 15th-century Jewish-German life and customs. Received to tremendous acclaim, the sefer had a tremendous impact on the later standardization of Ashkenazic law by R. Moshe Isserles (Rema).
R. Yisroel Isserlin (1390-1460), was a grandson of the HaGahos HaAshr”I on the Rosh and a talmid of R. Aaron HaKadosh. He was of the great rabbinic authorities of his period in Germany.
