Nava Ron (1961) is an Israeli artist, living and creating in Reut.
Ron is engaged in painting, usually in the technique of acrylic on canvas or paper in various formats. Her style is expressive and abstract, where sometimes hidden or scribbled characters are revealed in her paintings.
Color is the main player in Ron's works, when she paints in multiple, thick layers, in which she plays, scratches and erases. At first glance, it seems that the artist's color palette is gentle and not stormy - she chooses to paint in delicate colors, and the color pink often recurs in her works. Although, through the many layers of paint the storm emerges, and her paintings raise many questions about the relationship between the hidden and the visible.
These questions, which deal with the hidden and the visible, also arise in Ron's preoccupation with the relationship between the spots of color and the relationship between the layers, when she is mainly concerned with the ruled parts, the line out, the scratching - implicitly, the subtext. The many layers of paint allow her to reveal only a part, to scratch a metaphorical wound. Thus, she implicitly points to the painful and bloody thing that exists underneath. The scratches and lines that divide the painting are repeated many times in Ron's paintings, whose influence from the American abstract artists, such as Franz Klein, Leah Nickel and Rothko, is very evident.
