Iddo Markus (1979) is an artist who specializes in various fields of art, including drawing, painting, installation and photography.
Markus is known for his series of various miniature installations, featuring hundreds of paintings created over different periods. These exhibits have been exhibited in Israel and around the world and are in many collections.
His last exhibition at the Herzliya Museum in 2020 received extensive coverage: "Variations on jpg_1967" - it was a wonderful exhibition in which hundreds of paintings, mostly miniatures, of the same photograph of a girl with a yellow shirt were displayed. The composition of the entire exhibition was phenomenal.
Iddo Markus is a multidisciplinary artist whose works consistently invite us to explore the connection between figuration and abstraction.
Markus draws our attention to the fact that emptiness is needed for fullness to occur afterwards.
Its oil color is a thick smeared layer, a kind of cloudy colored mist - light or dark. The painting struggles to survive this layer, to cling to it, brush it or stab it. The surprise lies in the connections created between the drawing elements and the thick color strokes.
