Ben Semon began his artistic career as a young painter in New York about two decades ago, and after immigrating to Israel in 2005 he continued to paint here.

"I keep working on the same paintings I started 15 and 20 years ago. The paintings are objects that have life next to me. They grow when I grow up. Because of the circumstances of my life (the studio is also the apartment) I am always with them, so the works contain density and experience. "They allow the viewer to notice both the artist's hand and the experience of his life.

Semon's works contain large figures inhabiting the entire substrate.

The visual load creates a feeling that they are too strong and seemingly too close. Their color is unusual and the grotesque dimension in them is strong. The general feeling that emerges from the paintings can be called a disturbance, as a kind of observation of distortion.

'' I'm interested in being 'loud' and try to do it in a balanced way that for me is not pointless. The grotesqueness jumps forward and it serves as a device, it invites and distances at the same time. I use characters as if they were landscapes and I would like to switch between the 'back and forth'. ''
