First Half of 18th Century - Volume with handwritten copyings of documents, relating to the property of the Lopes de Liz (Lis) family. The Hague, ca. mid-18th century (the original documents are from 1742-1745). Dutch. Copyings of notarial documents relating to the property of Jacob Lopes de Liz, between 1742-1745. These documents concern an official petition by Abraham Lopes Suasso, son-in-law of Jacob Lopes de Liz, to appoint trustees to manage the family's property. The request was submitted as, he claimed, De Liz was no longer fit to manage his property himself, which he was dispensing thriftily. Jacob Lopes de Liz lived on Korte Voorhout Street, The Hague, in the same building where the Beit Yaakov community synagogue was active, holding prayers from 1692; in 1707, a separate building was built for the Beit Yaakov synagogue. In 1743, both Portuguese communities in The Hague – Beit Yaakov and Chonen Dal – united in the latter's building, in another location in the city. 126 leaves. 33 cm. Light stains and defects.
