Twenty-Dollar Bill Received from the Lubavitcher Rebbe – Elul 1991 - Twenty-dollar bill received from Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe. This bill was given as a gift to R. Ephraim Velvel Hakohen Coren of Crown Heights, who signs his name on the edge in English – ”Ephraim Coren”, with a Hebrew inscription: ”With the help of heaven, 10th Elul [1991] – from the Rebbe”. R. Ephraim Velvel Hakohen Coren (1944-2003) was a prayer leader and prominent member of the Crown Heights neighborhood, an intimate associate of the Chabad emissary R. Shmuel Pesach Bogomilsky. He and his wife Esther Coren, who attended the Union Street mikveh for decades, were familiar and beloved figures in the neighborhood, and were known in particular for their generous hospitality. Good-fair condition. Folding marks and creases. Stains. Enclosed is a letter of authenticity signed by R. Ephraim Coren's sister-in-law Rachel Geller – his wife Esther's sister – confirming that the dollar bill was received from the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
