Silver Hanukkah Lamp with Peacock Decoration – Vienna, Late 19th or Early 20th Century - Hanukkah lamp. [Vienna, late 19th or early 20th century]. Silver, cut, repoussé and stamped (marked with Austro-Hungarian standard marks in use from 1872 onward, and with a maker's mark, KM(?), possibly Karl Michalik, active 1878-1910). Hanukkah lamp with a raised base standing on six feet. The backplate is designed as a large peacock displaying its tail, enclosed within an arched architectonic frame surmounted by a crown and a canopy-like ornament. The removable row of oil fonts is positioned at the front. The removable shamash is positioned at the top of the backplate, on the reverse. Suspension ring on verso. Height: 37 cm. Width: 38 cm. Depth: approx. 15 cm. Weight: 1380 g. Overall good condition. Minor solder repairs to backplate.
