Poem Printed on Silk Sheet – By Rabbi Yitzchak Lampronti – For Dedication of Ark in Ferrara – Venice, 1710 - Lengthy poem, printed on a large silk sheet, by R. Yitzchak Lampronti, author of Pachad Yitzchak, for the dedication of the ark of the Sephardic synagogue in Ferrara. Venice: Bragadin, [1710]. Poem of thirty-two stanzas, beginning Uru Se'ipai. On the margins is a line with the printing details of the Bragadin press in Venice, and the author's name: ”Yitzchak Lampronti”. An introductory paragraph at the beginning of the page gives the date in a chronogram for 5470 (1710) and states the background for the authorship of the poem, for the dedication of the ark in the Sephardic synagogue of Ferrara, as he and his friend R. Shmuel Menachem Fano were responsible for the work. R. Yitzchak Lampronti (1679-1756) was a Torah scholar, physician and leading Italian rabbi. Rabbi and yeshiva dean in Ferrara. His disciples served as rabbis of distinguished communities in Italy. He is noted for his monumental Pachad Yitzchak series – the first halachic encyclopedia, only the first part of which was printed in his lifetime. Silk sheet. Height: 59.5 cm. Width: 43.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains. Folding marks and creases. Unraveling of threads, defects and gaps, mainly to fold at center of sheet. Text in several places affected. Sewn onto new linen sheet.
