Ketubah – Sofia, 1889
Ketubah (marriage contract), recording the marriage of the groom Meir ben Eliezer HaLevi to the bride Mazal. Sofia (Bulgaria), 1889.
Cut on top and decorated with glued flower illustrations. Title in purple ink.
Divided into four sections: the text of the ketubah, shtar tena'im, and two more shtarot concerning the dowry [one in Ladino]. Witnesses' signatures. On the ketubah margins is an authorization signed and stamped by "Dr. Shimon Dankawitz – General Rabbi of Bulgaria".
Maximal height: 56 cm. Fair condition. Stains, several tears. Folding marks and creases. Restored damages on folding marks. Faded or peeled ink in several places.
