Sha'agat Aryeh Responsa, by Rabbi Aryeh Leib ben R' Asher. Frankfurt an der Oder, [1756]. First edition printed during the author's life.
The first book written by the author of the Sha'agat Aryeh who became famous for his great genius by means of this book which was accepted by Jews all over the world. Its reputation even reached distant Metz and there he succeeded Rabbi Yehonatan Eibeshitz as rabbi and head of the yeshiva.
Ancient owners' signatures on flyleaf before the title page: "Aryeh ---", who received the book from "Rabbi Wolf Hirsh".
[1], 93 leaves. 31.5 cm. Dark-colored paper, good condition, leaf cutting with minor damages to text to several leaves. Old binding with leather spine, worn.
This copy has differences from other copies: Some copies finish at Leaf 89. This is a whole copy including Appendix Leaves 90-93 and without the list of the workers of the printing press which appears in another edition on Leaf 89/b.
