Letter by Rebbe Eliezer Hager, Author of Damesek Eliezer of Vizhnitz
Letter by R. Eliezer Hager, author of Damesek Eliezer of Vizhnitz, in scribal writing with his signature, to the heads of the Porat Yosef Yeshiva in Rehovot. [Rehovot], Tamuz 1944.
R. Eliezer Hager, author of Damesek Eliezer of Vizhnitz (1891-1946, Encyclopedia L'Chassidut, Vol. 1, pp. 252-253), son of the Ahavat Yisrael of Vizhnitz and son-in-law of R. Yitzchak Meir Heshel of Kopishnitz. In 1922, was appointed Rabbi of Vizhnitz in which he established the Beit Yisrael V'Damesek Eliezer Yeshiva. After his father's death, he was appointed Vizhnitz Rebbe. Very active in community matters and rescuing Jews during the Holocaust. In 1944, he immigrated to Eretz Israel, settled in Tel Aviv and re-established the Vizhnitz Yeshiva.
During the short time he lived in Eretz Israel until his untimely death, he managed to visit a number of cities and settlements in Eretz Israel. This letter was written during his visit to Rehovot.
