Account of a journey to Palestine and Syria by French writer and painter Charles Lallemand, illustrated with 22 plates and dozens of in-text photogravures, depicting important sites in Jerusalem, Jaffa, Nazareth, Bethlehem, Damascus, and more.
The photographs used for preparing the photogravures were taken by the French photographer and native of Algeria Jules Gervais-Courtellemont (1863-1931), one of the pioneers of color photography and among the foremost photographers of the Levant in the late 19th century.
Published as part of the series "Collection Courtellemont: artistique et pittoresque", dedicated to the works of Gervais-Courtellemont.
