Eigentliche Vorstellung der Statt Jerusalem und derselben umliegenden Gegenden zu Salomonis auch zu und kurtz nach Christi Zeiten – Engraved map by August Christian Fleischmann. [Nuremberg, 1736]. With legend in German.
Imaginary reconstruction of Jerusalem, hand-colored, based on the 1604 map by Jesuit scholar Juan Bautista Villalpando. The map features the Temple Mount raised on massive substructures, the royal palace ("Die Statt Davids"), city streets, walls, and other structures.
From the 1736 Nuremberg edition of the Luther Bible (Biblia, das ist die ganze Heilige Schrift).
Engraved map: 43X51.5 cm (verso blank). Good condition. Marginal tear repaired on verso with paper backing. Mounted.
