About 230 photographs arranged in an album, documenting Jerusalem and Palestine in the early 1930s. 1930-1931.
The album includes: photographs of the Temple Mount, Dome of the Rock, Western Wall, lanes and figures in the Old City, numerous photographs of the Jerusalem Gates, burial of the Indian-Moslem leader Muhamed Ali Juhar on the Temple Mount, British police station in Givat Shaul, a World War I canon, mud shacks near the Dead Sea, Trans-Jordanian Frontier Force on a bridge over the Jordan river, Bedouins, women in traditional costumes, an orchestra of blind musicians and photographs of the towns of Nablus, Hebron, Tel-Aviv, Haifa and more.
The photographs are titled by hand on the album leaves, as well as on small paper labels pasted by the photographs (English). Some photographs are titled by hand on the back. On the back of some photographs appears a printed inscription (presumably, those are photographs taken by professional photographers).
On inner side of front cover appears the inscription: Palestine, 1930-31. E. Barnes, 771.
Photographs: approx. 8X5.5 cm (a number of photographs are larger). Condition varies. Good overall condition. Slight defects. Several detached photographs. Album: approx. 31.5X21 cm. Good-fair condition. Slight damage to margins of leaves. Tears, stains and defects to some tissue-guards. Slight defects to binding.
