Tanya – Three Editions Printed During the Holocaust – Vilna, Munkacs and Tel Aviv, 1940-1943 – First Edition Printed in Eretz Israel
Three different editions of Likutei Amarim – Tanya, by Rebbe Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the Alter Rebbe, printed during the Holocaust, based on the Rebbe Rashab's edition (Vilna, 1900).
• Vilna: Romm, 1940. Copy missing 11 leaves.
• Munkacs: Grafia Press of R. Eliezer Yechiel Kalisch, [1943]. Illustrated main title page (in yellow) and a detailed title page. Contains a special section at the end of the last section – Kuntres Toldot HaTanya – 12 chapters comprised of 97 paragraphs. Divisional title page for the Kuntres. The Munkacs 1943 edition also contains the approbations printed in the Zhovkva, 1799 edition (which do not appear in most other editions), as well as a new approbation from the members of the Batei Din of Munkacs: R. Meir Ze'ev HaKohen Saltzer, R. Menachem Weiss, R. Chaim Sofer and R. Nata Schlissel.
• Tel Aviv: Sefer, [1943]. Copy missing leaf 3. First edition of Tanya printed in Eretz Israel. For this edition, a special Committee for the Printing of the Tanya was formed, whose members the Rayatz praised in a letter he sent them.
