Copy of Rebbe Meir Yosef Rubin of Kerestir. Inscription in his own handwriting on title page: "I purchased it... Meir Yosef Rubin, 5686 [1926]"; stamps on the endpaper: "Meir Yosef, son-in-law of the Rabbi and Tzaddik R. A[vraham] son of the Rabbi and Tzaddik Yeshayah Steiner – Bodrogkeresztúr".
Rebbe Yosef Meir Rubin (born 1899, perished in the Holocaust in 1944), third Rebbe of the Kerestir dynasty, son-in-law of Rebbe Avraham Steiner of Kerestir (son of Rebbe Yeshayale of Kerestir). Descendant of the Tzaddikim of Ropshitz, Zidichov, Premishlan, Lizhensk, Kozhnitz and Belz. He was appointed Rebbe in 1927 after the passing of his father-in-law, Rebbe Avraham of Kerestir. He was known as a Tzaddik and wonder-worker. The many salvations he achieved and his blessings that were fulfilled are recounted in the book Batei Avot (Part III – "Beit Yosef", Jerusalem 1965), written by his disciple R. Moshe Yosef Friedlander. He was accustomed to blessing everyone with "children, longevity, abundant livelihood and all good things".
