One-Hundred Dollar Bill Received from the Lubavitcher Rebbe – Given in Return for Finding and Publishing a Letter and Prayer Sent by the Rebbe to US President Roosevelt in 1941
100-dollar bill received from Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
The bill was given to Rabbi Shaul Shimon Deutsch, who wrote on the bill (in pen): "From the Rebbe for research in the FDR library about Chabad, prayer by the Rayatz for the welfare of President Roosevelt – the Rebbe told me to publish the prayer – Haoros Ubiurim 36 (592)".
In 1941, as the devastating news of the atrocities taking place in in Europe reached the rebbe, he wrote a special prayer for the welfare of the government of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the citizens of the United States. The prayer was published in the media and distributed in synagogues in Hebrew and English. On 2nd Elul 1941, the Rayatz sent a letter to US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt with the prayer enclosed.
Based on the enclosed letter of authenticity, this bill was given in return for finding the original letter and prayer sent by the Rebbe to President Roosevelt in the FDR library, New York. Upon the Rebbe's instruction, the letter and prayer were published in Haoros Ubiurim, issue no. 36.
Good condition.
