Description:
Cornet Bought by Rebbe Rashab of Lubavitch as a Gift to his Granddaughters (Rebbetzins Chanah Gurary, Chaya Mushka Schneersohn and Shaina Horenstein)
Cornet made by Thibouville-Lamy, Paris, ca. early 20th century, model named Jérôme. Housed in a wooden case.
Letter of authenticity enclosed (handwritten note, in English), signed in Hebrew by Rebbetzin Chanah Gurary (1899-1991), eldest daughter of Rebbe Rayatz: "I hereby gift… the coronet musical instrument that my grandfather – the Rashab bought as a gift for me and my sisters during his trip to Paris – I don't remember the year. It brings back so many memories just looking at it".
Approx. 31 cm. Three tubes (for changing pitch) enclosed. Lacking one valve. Possibly missing some additional pieces. Bends and damage. The mechanism was not examined.
Original wooden case: approx.10-14X21X36 cm. Broken and damaged.
