Snuffbox of Rebbe Rashab of Lubavitch – "The Tabakerka Made of Gold and Enamel" Mentioned in his Will - With Certificate of Authenticity Signed by Rebbetzin Chanah Gurary
Fine snuffbox, gilt silver and enamel. Marked: Russian hallmark (St. Petersburg, 1908 onward) and maker's mark – ГП, Grigory Grigorevitch Pankratiev.
This snuffbox is mentioned in the will of Rebbe Rashab: "The Tabakerka [Russian for snuff box] made of gold and enamel I am leaving to my son [Rebbe Rayatz]" (see: Ashkavta DeRebbe, p. 138).
Letter of authenticity enclosed (handwritten note, in English), signed in Hebrew by Rebbetzin Chanah Gurary (1899-1991), eldest daughter of Rebbe Rayatz: "I hereby gift… the enamel (amil) snuff box of my grandfather – the Rashab. My father gave it to me for my 5th wedding anniversary".
Approx. 5.5X2.5 cm. Good condition.
