Five books of the Torah with various commentaries, and with three new commentaries: Aderet Eliyahu by the Gaon of Vilna and two commentaries on the Masorah – Menorat Shlomo and Minchat Kalil, by the son-in-law of the Gaon of Vilna R. Or Shraga Feivush son of R. Shlomo Zalman, rabbi of Dubrovna. Dubrovna, [1804].
First edition of the commentary of the Gaon of Vilna on the Torah. Two parts in one volume. Forewords by the sons of the Gaon of Vilna at the beginning of Part I.
The publisher of this edition was R. Or Shraga Feivush Rabbi of Dubrovna, son-in-law of the Gaon of Vilna in his first marriage (see Aliyat Kir in Aliyot Eliyahu, no. 27; B. Landau, HaGaon HaChassid MiVilna, p. 268). He included his own two commentaries in this edition: Menorat Shlomo and Minchat Kalil. At the end of the book of Vayikra, he describes his youth, when he had the merit of being in the presence of the Gaon of Vilna: " When I was young, I tasted a little honey and honeycomb sweet to my palate, from… the Gaon…".
Stamps: "Belongs to the Kloiz of the Gaon of Vilna" (about the kloiz see Hebrew description).
Two parts in one volume. [2], 68; 54; [1], 46; 51; 54; 16 leaves. The title page which originally appears at the beginning of Bamidbar is bound at the beginning of VaYikra (this title page is rare and does not appear in most copies). 44 cm. Condition varies. Most leaves in good-fair condition. First leaves in fair condition. Stains (including dampstains) and wear. Extensive wear and open tears to first leaves (including title page), repaired with paper, affecting text (with loss). Tears to several other leaves, repaired with paper. Old leather binding, with damage, wear and worming. Stamps. Bookplate.
