A Receipt Signed by Rabbi Shmuel Salant, the Rabbi of Jerusalem - Jerusalem, 1879
In scribal script: "I have received from the merchant S.Y. Valero, the amount of … from Irgun Ha'Pkidim Ve'Ha'Amarkelim of Amsterdam …"
His handwritten signature: Shmuel Salant" and his stamp.
Most likely, the name of the merchant should have been R.Y. Valero, referring to Rabbi Ya'akov Valero who was a banker in Jerusalem. Valero was connected to Irgun Ha'Pkidim Ve'Ha'Amarkelim of Amsterdam, Holland, which was responsible for collection and distribution of charity funds (Chalukah) for Jewish residents of the Holy Land.
