A Wonderful Sermon Handwritten by the Rebbe Rabbi Eliyahu of Greiditz / Halachic Letters handwritten by Him - Eleven Pages that have never been Printed!
A. A wonderful sermon handwritten by the Rebbe Rabbi Eliyahu of Greiditz. Among others, Rabbi Eliyahu writes: "Indeed we are lacking Divine inspiration and the laws applicable in the Land of Israel and we do not have a Temple and sacrifices … yet a man studying Torah for its own sake and purely is considered to have observed all the Mitzvot …".
The second sermon is on Parashat Shmini and deals with repentance. A floded leaf, 4 pp. with erasures, handwritten additions and corrections by the Rebbe. These leaves are numbered and are part of a complete compositions which had not been published. 21 cm. condition: Very Good.
B. A Halachic letter to his friend Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Kalisher about the distribution of the money of the estate of Rabbi Shmuel Baddet. Dated A Ve'Yeshev [Kislev], 1865. Rabbi Eliyahu's handwriting, not signed, with short and long erasures and additions. A leaf written on both its sides. This is most likely a copying of an original letter, which was being prepared for printing [yet was never printed. However, a similar letter on the subject matter by Rabbi Eliyahu Guttmacher to rabbi Ya'akov Ettlinger, author of "Aruch La'ner" was printed in the Aderet Eliyahu Responsa, Choshen Mishpat Siman 18]. 21 cm. Condition: Good. Tiny tears and holes. Omission of several words.
C. Halachic responsum handwritten by him in 1859, "to Rabbi Nachum Rabbi of Mezeritch", his close disciple. Has never been printed. This is most likely a copying of an original letter, which he prepared for printing. A leaf written on both its sides. 21 cm. Condition: Good. Small damage to text due to worn margins.
D. Letter handwritten by him from 1848, "to the Rabbi, Av Beit Din of Karage. Has never been printed. This is most likely a copying of an original letter, which he prepared for printing. 21 cm. Condition: Fair-Good. A tear in the margins with an omission of several words.
E. A passage from a Halachic article handwritten by Rabbi Eliyahu. Written on a envelope (airmail letter) on which it was written: "to the well-known genius Rabbi … Av Beit Din of Greiditz…" 22 cm. Condition: Good. Worn and torn margins.
Rabbi Eliyahu Guttmacher of Greiditz (1796-1875) was the leading disciple of Rabbi Akiva Eiger. He was known as the "Tsaddik of Greiditz". Thousands of people came to him to receive his blessing until he was forced to publish an announcement in the newspaper requesting that they stop coming. His manuscripts are considered a Segulah.
