Early Manuscript "Kitzur Piskei Ha'Rosh" – with Important Textual Variations - the 15th Century - Extremely Rare
Four leaves written on both their sides in ancient Sephardic script containing "Kitzur Piskei Ha'Rosh" by Rabbi Ya'akov Ba'al Ha'Turim.
The leaves contain the end of the laws of a Torah scroll, "Simanei Hilchot Mezuzah", "Simanei Hilchot Tefillin" and part of the laws of Nedarim.
The manuscript before us contains many textual variations in comparison to the printed version (see a comparison to the printed version of the Babylonian Talmud, Oz Ve'Hadar edition). These variations undoubtedly indicate that the printed version is faulty and the manuscript before us contains the correct version!
Examples of the textual variations:
In the manuscript before us: "… A Mezuzah needs processing for the sake of observing the Mitzvah of Mezuzah…". The printed version however lacks this law regarding the processing of the Mezuzah.
In the manuscript before us: "Has written it as a letter, not being meticulous with plene and deficient spelling, it is invalid. Whereas, according to the printed version: "Has written it as a letter, not being meticulous with deficient spelling, it is invalid".
The script:
Scribal Sephardic script. The 15th century. Orderly aligned writing. Primary words are in square, emphasized script. On the sides of the pages, textual glosses of single words in later script.
20x30 cm.
Condition: Good-Fair. Stains. Moth holes and wear due to dampness.
