Huge bronze medal Oskar Schindler diameter 110 mm (collector's item)
Metal: bronze
Diameter: 110 mm
Weight: 530 grams
Final/maximum issue quantity: 999 units only
Design: Marika Somoudi
*A large, numbered bronze medal with the portrait of the Righteous Among the Nations Oskar Schindler.
Oskar Schindler, the German-Catholic industrialist, who became famous for his activity to save Jews during the Holocaust, from the followers of the nations of the world who saved about 1,200 Jews from death at the hands of the Nazis in World War II when he protected them in his factory. The Nazis stayed outside the boundaries of the factory and were not allowed to enter except with special permission from Schindler himself. In addition, the Jews received food and warm clothes that allowed them to exist.
Schindler's Jews, 1,200 men, women and children, remained Schindler's employees until the end of the war and thus were actually saved.
The back of the medal is inspired by the story of the "Exodus from Egypt" - the rescue of the Israelites is compared to the rescue of 1200 "Schindler's List" Jews from certain death.
Designed by Marika Somoudi (a Holocaust survivor herself).
