Hanukkah Menorah by a Detainee in the Latrun Detention Camp
Hanukkah Menorah by a detainee in the Latrun Detention Camp, 1947. A unique hand-crafted Menorah made of two wooden boards. The back board is designed as a sun, with a pyramid shaped staircase in the center. On the top stair stands the figure of Mattathias holding two torches. On each one of the stairs is a chained hand holding a torch. The base is decorated with marquetery work. On the right corner is a base is an inscribed plaque which reads: "Souvenir from your detained son Dov, Hanukkah, 1947". Height: 14 cm, width: 23.5 cm. Overall good condition.
