GASKELL ELIZABETH: (1810-1865) British Novelist, the first to write a biography of Charlotte Bronte. A.L.S., E. C. Gaskell, three pages, 8vo, Rue du Bac, (Paris), n.d. ('Thursday'), to Madame Scherer. Gaskell informs her correspondent that the train leaving Paris will not arrive at Versailles until five minutes past ten 'and that then we shall have a walk of a few minutes to the Rue Royale', therefore asking that her correspondent does not prepare a breakfast tomorrow morning, remarking 'We will come in, if you will allow us, as soon as best we can; but I fancy it will be a quarter past ten, at least, before we can be with you'.
