A KPM GERMAN PORCELAIN PLAQUE HAGAR AND ISHMAEL, CA. 1900
Hand-painted German porcelain plaque, "Hagar and Ishmael in the Desert, " a scene from the Genesis, Chapter 21 depicting a woman with a sleeping child in a desert landscape with sand dunes at sunset. Painted after the original painting by Emanuel Krescenc Liska (Czech, 1852-1903). Signed lower right "Riis, " inscribed in blue on the verso: "Riis Carstensen Andreas Christian Riis 1844 - Danish School Benezite Tome 2 Page 344 Musee of Copenhagen, " has an impressed KPM scepter mark and housed in a Heydenryk frame with floral motifs and the maker's paper label on reverse.
Dimensions: 8 x 13 1/4 in., (20 x 33.5 cm.)
Condition: Good, no chips or cracks.
