A MASONIC SWORD ANCHOR LODGE, LATE 19TH EARLY 20TH C

Masonic sword for the "Anchor Lodge" order ceremony, with scabbard, Late 19th early 20th century. Ricasso marked: G.F. Foster & Son/Chicago. The pommel is in the form of a knight's helmet, and the hilt is a black, gilded guard with the image of an anchor and chain guard. The double-edged blade is heavily etched with the monogram "A.O.U.W." and images of medieval knights, and more. The metal scabbard is black in color, decorated with a gilded beautiful embossed decor. Masonically, the anchor is a symbol of safety. It reminds us to put our trust in Deity, to learn the lessons of Masonry and follow them faithfully, “in a peaceful harbor, where the wicked cease of troubling and the weary shall find rest.”order.
