בידספיריט | Francois-Xavier Lalanne (1927-2008) Grand Chat, 1968

Francois-Xavier Lalanne (1927-2008) Grand Chat, 1968 - Maitre modele in wax and patinated plaster Unique work – not an edition Dimensions: Provenance:De La Baume Family Collection. Acquired directly from the artist during the 1960s and retained in the family by descent. Notes:This rare and early sculpture by François-Xavier Lalanne reflects the artist’s distinctive poetic sculptural language, in which animals are transformed into elegant and imaginative forms balancing Surrealism, design, and decorative art. Executed as a Maitre Modele, the original master model in wax and patinated plaster, the work represents the most intimate and original stage of Lalanne’s creative process prior to any casting procedure. Unlike later bronze editions associated with the artist’s work, this sculpture is a completely unique work and not part of any edition. The elongated feline form, simplified geometry, and subtly expressive character already reveal the visual language that would later become synonymous with the celebrated Lalanne universe. Early original works by François-Xavier Lalanne from the 1960s are considered particularly rare on the international market, especially unique master models that were never produced as editioned casts.
