After World War II, Frenkel settled in Austria, where he established and operated a respected art gallery in Vienna. Over several decades, he developed a refined and intellectually driven collection, focusing on significant works of modern European art. According to information provided by the family, the work was acquired in Paris at Galerie Jeanne Bucher, a reputable mid - 20th-century gallery known for presenting modernist and avant-garde artists. The gallery maintained a strong reputation among international collectors and was recognized for its curated, boutique character within the Parisian art market. The provenance is consistent with Frenkel’s documented collecting patterns. Between the 1960s and 1980s, he regularly purchased works in Paris, selecting pieces from established galleries with recognized standing in the European art market. The artwork remained in Frenkel’s private collection until his passing in 2001 and has been preserved within the family collection ever since.
