Raoul Dufy (1877-1953), Regattas at Deauville- 1935, Modern Impressionist painting - Oil on canvas Signed lower right Dimensions: 79.5 × 39.8 cm Provenance:The artwork originates from the distinguished collection of Yehuda Frenkel (1916–2001), a notable Holocaust survivor, cultural figure, and documented associate and partner of Oskar Schindler. Frenkel passed away at the age of 85 in 2001 and is remembered for both his remarkable personal history and his influential role in the international art world. Following the war, Frenkel settled in Austria, where he became the owner of a respected art gallery in Vienna and developed a reputation as a refined collector with significant means. Over several decades, he actively acquired artworks from important European cultural centers, focusing particularly on Paris and Vienna. His collection reflected both intellectual curiosity and an informed appreciation for modern art. According to information provided by the family, the present work was acquired in Paris at the Galerie Charpentier, a gallery active during the mid-20th century and now closed for over 30 years. Throughout its operation, Galerie Charpentier was known among collectors as a boutique gallery dealing in modernist and avant-garde works, attracting international buyers such as Frenkel. This provenance aligns fully with Frenkel’s collecting patterns. During the 1960s–1980s he regularly purchased works in Paris, often selecting pieces from respected galleries with strong reputations in the European art market. The examined work remained in his private collection until his passing in 2001 and has been preserved within the family ever since.
