בידספיריט | Nina Kogan (1889–1942), Suprematist Composition,
Nina Kogan (1889–1942), Suprematist Composition, Early 20th Century - In this work, one of the clearest expressions of Nina Kogan’s avant-garde vision, we witness a vibrant and powerful composition that reflects the principles of Suprematism — a movement in which she was one of the prominent female figures alongside Malevich and members of the UNOVIS group in Vitebsk. The visual center of the piece — a vivid red circle — serves as a constructive axis around which sharp diagonal lines revolve or intersect, resembling dynamic forms in space. These lines are rendered in shades of blue, black, and red, creating a sense of depth, movement, and expansion — iconic features of the Suprematist language, which championed a break from all figurative representation in favor of pure exploration of shape, color, and space. Kogan, one of the pioneering women active at the core of the Soviet avant-garde, managed to distill a personal voice within a collective artistic language, balancing cosmic movement with precise formal organization.
