A Parcel Gilt Silver and Silver Filigree Torah Case, North Africa, Early 20th Century
The elaborate filigree case is applied with various gilt silver elements - The Decalogue, Stars of David with hamsa, birds, Menorahs, harps, hanging lamps and flames. The upper band is repoussed and punched with Hebrew inscription: "This is the law Moses set before the Israelites.". The interior is lined with red velvet. Fitted with filigree finials topped by hamsas and fitted each with six gilt hamsa tassels.
