Obverse: The State Emblem of Israel, denomination, the word “Israel” in Hebrew, English and Arabic, and the date 5746–1985. The Proof coin bears the denomination 2 Sheqalim, while the BU coin bears the denomination 1 Sheqel. Reverse: A silver Hanukkiya from Ashkenaz dated 5334–1574, bearing the “Hanerot Halalu” prayer and held in the collection of the Israel Museum. The inscription “Hanukkiya from Ashkenaz – 16th Century” appears below. Packaging: Both coins are preserved in their original issue packaging of the Israel Government Coins and Medals Corporation.
