Rare!!! - A postcard that survived the interception of an El Al plane in Bulgaria, including a rare postage stamp: "This postal item survived on an El Al plane that was shot down in Bulgaria on 27.07.55" - A postcard in excellent condition, including 3 Romanian stamps stamped with a Bucharest seal 20.07.55
The disaster occurred in July 1955 when an El Al Lockheed Constellation passenger plane that was on a civil flight from London via Paris and Vienna to Lod Airport was shot down over the city of Petrich in Bulgaria in the morning hours. All 58 passengers of the plane perished.
To this day, we do not know how many items of mail this plane carried inside, but
one mail bag survived and the letters inside it (burnt or torn) were handed over to the Israel Postal Authority and sent to their certificate, after being stamped with a square stamp with the following unconventional wording: "This item of mail survived on the plane to for being shot down in Bulgaria on July 27, 1955". Interesting historical item
