Zohar Harakia by the Rashbatz. First Edition. Constantinople, 1515.

Zohar Harakia by Rabbi Shimon ben Tzemach Duran (1361-1444), author of the Tashbetz, discussions on minayin hamitzvos (counting of the 613 commandments) according to Rabbi Shlomo Ibn Gabirol’s famous poem Azharos.

Azharos, a classical piyyut (poem) listing the 613 commandments in liturgical song, was composed by Rabbi Shlomo ibn Gabirol (1020-1058). The comprehensive poem gained widespread acknowledgement as sages throughout later generations referenced it extensively in their writings.

In the past, it was customary to recite this piyyut on the festival of Shavuos, which commemorates the giving of the Torah on Sinai.

Constantinople, 1515. First edition. [116] Page 19.5cm.

Good condition. Small moth marks artistically restored. Owners’ signatures include the Parchi and Vitirbo families. New leather binding.
