Shu”t Noda B’Yehudah
Shu”t Noda B’Yehudah is one of the classic responsa works from the era of the Achronim. The Maharshag expressed, “I heard from my rebbes that the Noda B’Yehudah and Chasam Sofer were sent from Heaven to establish Jewish law among Israel” (Shu”t Maharshag, Engel Edition. Vol. 7 p. 195)
The Divrei Chaim likewise inscribed in his responsa: “Who am I before the genius among geniuses, the Noda B’Yehudah…If I have ever seen Rabbis daring to challenge the Noda B’Yehudah; due to our many sins it is only due to ignorance and folly. Go and see the difference between the Noda B’Yehudah z”l and others, for his strength is renowned in halachah, and rarely did another surmount him…” (Shu”t Divrei Chaim Vol. 2 Orach Chaim Ch. 46)
See two volumes of Noda B’Yehudah, First & Last Editions, different printings.
