Siddur for the Entire Year Published by the Shapira Press; Zhitomir, 1858
Siddur containing prayers for the entire year with Yiddish translation, including hoshanos, selichos, pirkei avos and other prayers in Yiddish, as per the Ashkenazic custom.
Published in Zhitomir, 1858, by the grandsons of the Rabbi of Slavita, Rabbi Chanina Lipa and Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel Shapira.
The sefarim published by the Shapira family in Slavita and Zhitomir were popular among the leaders of Chassidus, not only for their quality printing, but also due to the prestige of the printers themselves, who were the grandchildren of Rabbi Pinchas of Koritz. They conducted themselves with exceptional piety, and it is said that they would immerse the printing plates in the mikvah before putting them to use.
The sifrei tehillim, siddurim and machzorim published in their press gained quick popularity and are sought after to this very day.
This siddur is
rare, and not listed in the Otzar HaSefer HaIvri.
